As promised, here is Part 2 of our "Get to know the founders of Eco Glitter Fun" Interview. We got an insight from Sophie in our last blog, now this week we meet with Noemi, the self declared silent partner of this beautiful biodegradable glitter business. Join us and get to know the ins and out of being an entrepreneur.
Let's get kicked off with Noemi:
So Noemi, how did it all begin and what made you want to start an eco-friendly business in the first place? Especially the idea of eco glitter!
N:....it was all Sophie really. I just got a call. The short version goes: "Noemi, Glitter is plastic!!!! I have found a good eco replacement but it's being currently packaged in plastic and it seems silly...if I start up a company would you do it with me? Yes absolutely. The rest is history. I can’t believe that call was 5 years ago.
What's your best experience?
N: I think all the events and glitter parties we get to (used to get to do) together. Festivals and especially Glastonbury is a huge highlight. Always busy, people are lovely and totally get the sustainability ethos and why we do what we do
What are the upsides and downsides to running a small eco business?
N: I would maybe say the upsides are that you are in total control of where the company is heading and how we go about those decisions. Downsides is probably the financial side of it. The last two years have been hard on everyone and as a small business you feel those even harder.
What's it like working with Sophie? What are her best and worst assets to the company?
N: She is one of the most hardworking people I have ever met, driven and dedicated to the cause in a way few people truly are. When she runs events and training you can hear and feel how passionate she is about the sustainable life. Worst asset...HA. She is a certified worrier.
What are your company's goals?
N: I think our number one goal has always been the same and we are constantly working towards it. To use our glitter as a platform for people to understand that being more eco conscious and sustainable is accessible and it takes small steps like switching your every day products i.e..glitter to more eco choices i.e ecoglitter
We know Sophie is a full time glitter lover, have you ever wanted to leave your full time job to join her?
N: Honestly I would love to but I am one of those weird people that likes working for the man. I know how Sophie works and it’s a seven day a week job where you can never really switch off. My day job means I can still take holidays and have actual breaks. Maybe one day.
Do you feel like you're making a difference?
N: Definitely. The amount of messages we get on our websites, on our socials, shocking people with the plastic versus biodegradable conversation. We have definitely opened a lot of eyes and turned a lot of people to the eco life especially when we run events.
Lastly, what's your favourite product and why? It must be so hard to pick with all the colours you have available!
N: Ahhhhhh!!! I hate this question. I think the solidarity blend? It’s a stunning blend and I love the reason why we created it. At the time it just felt right. For anyone who doesn't know, we wrote a whole blog about it!
And that’s a wrap! We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about the owners of Eco Glitter Fun, we would love for you to get to know the company better so stay tuned for some more interviews. If you ever want to ask us a question, even if you’re just curious, pop over to our instagram and we will be happy to speak to you! You’ve all helped the company grow with your love for eco glitter, we wouldn’t be where we are without you.
